For centuries people have donned masks for multiple reasons from masquerade balls to religious rituals to Halloween, or Samhain, parties. Across the world, in many different countries for many different reasons masks have become a way for people to transform into someone else for the day. In theater masks are used to change from one character to another. Frightening masks can be almost magical and are appealing to many, especially on Halloween.

Choosing a mask is done in many ways. Some people like to choose a mask then build the perfect costume around it.
